This year I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to attend the PASS Summit. It’s been a fantastic event and my only complaint is that it’s gone too fast. I’ve met a lot of great people and attended a lot of valuable sessions. Seattle has been a fantastic city to visit and I look forward to visiting here again in the future.
For those who are not familiar with the PASS Summit, it’s a technical conference by PASS that has the best of the best speakers available. Compared to other training you can receive, it’s a real bargain. I highly suggest attending the event if you ever can.
Okay, so I’ve been behind about updates. Last month at my local PASS chapter, there was a slide mentioning an event called GiveCamp. GiveCamp is a weekend long event where software developers and other technology professionals can assist non-profit organizations that are in need of technical solutions. I had a wonderful time and it was quite a bit of work but I’ll definitely attend again next year. My team worked on a project for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. We developed a solution so that users could search for food bank locations based on their address. We used Google API in conjunction with PHP and it turned out quite nice. I only wish we had more time to fine tune it and make it better.
